Television - Marquee Moon This is one of my favorite guitar albums ever. The interplay of Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd is really rather sophisticated. The production is sparse, and the whole album sounds like it could be pulled of live by the four members band. It certainly feels as if it was recorded live. There really is a lot here for a music theory nerd like myself to go gaga over, including modal improvisation, countermelody, odd rhythmic tensions, lengthy instrumental interludes. This record has had a profound impact on my approach to playing the guitar in a band. These guys are tight. What music is inspiring you this week?
